This makes your partner feel closer, like a real friend who shares your walk instead of just a number in a menu. The game also uses a tiny real-world gadget called a Pokewalker. You put one Pokémon into it, clip it on, walk around outside, and then bring back steps that turn into items or new friends inside the game.

After you beat the main League in Johto, the adventure does not stop. A whole second land, Kanto, waits on the other side of the map. There you face new Gym Leaders, meet more Pokémon, and climb toward one last secret battle at the top of a mountain. For kids, this means HeartGold keeps going for a long time. There is always another path to see, another strong trainer to test your team, and another reason to try out different Pokémon instead of sticking with the same group forever.
