In Friday Night Funkin’ Darkness Takeover, Boyfriend enters a world where the Family Guy characters have been corrupted by a dark force called the “darkness.” He has to battle them using songs.

You go through rounds called “weeks.” Each week has songs where Boyfriend fights corrupted characters. You see arrows move across the screen. You press the same arrows when they reach a line. Get many right and you win. Miss many and you lose.

The game looks spooky in parts. The characters look changed and weird. The background sometimes flickers or distorts. The music and visuals match to make it feel eerie. But it’s mostly about rhythm battles with a dark twist.
